Hoopenburg Wines, located in Muldersvlei, Stellenbosch, is looking to appoint an energetic, organized and hardworking winemaker. The successful candidate is someone who is willing to take initiative and work independently. Experience in MCC, red and white wine production is advantageous.

Qualifications / requirements

  1. BSc Agric with Oenology, Elsenburg Degree /Diploma or a similar qualification.
  2. Minimum of 3 years work experience in a cellar as an assistant or a winemaker.
  3. Computer skills and experience in winery management systems (EzyWine or similar).
  4. IPW, Wieta, SAWIS knowledge /experience.
  5. Own transport and accommodation.

Responsibilities

  1. Winemaking from receiving grapes, processing, blending, maturing and bottling
  2. Cellar hygiene
  3. Barrel and bulk wine management and quality control.
  4. Stock control of bulk, bottled, dry goods, labels, cellar chemicals.
  5. Management of cellar staff and efficiency of staff.
  6. Preparing orders for shipping and doing documentation related to orders.
  7. Liase with the accounts department on purchase orders, invoicing and shipment of orders.
  8. SAWIS admin and record keeping up to certification and labelling.
  9. IPW and Wieta documentation and recordkeeping for the cellar.
  10. Attending wine shows and tastings to promote and represent our wines.
