A very well-established wine distribution company is looking for an ‘’Assistant Warehouse Manager’’ to join their team on a full-time permanent basis in Stellenbosch.

Extremely good compensation package on offer of R35,000 pm (subject to background and or experience) (including benefits) and internal career advancement opportunities.

About the role:

The Assistant Warehouse Manager will be responsible for overseeing the operations of the company’s warehouse in Klapmuts. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all incoming and outgoing inventory is processed according to schedule, safety standards and quality requirements in accordance with the company’s policy and procedures.

Position Requirements:

  • Proven work experience in the warehouse environment in supervisory or management roles
  • Expertise in warehouse management procedures and best practices
  • Proven ability to implement process improvement initiatives
  • Strong knowledge of warehousing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Hands on experience with warehouse management software and databases
  • Leadership skills and ability to manage staff
  • Strong decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • BS degree in Logistics, supply chain management, business administration or equivalent (advantageous)
  • Able to work on Weekends
  • Must be committed to providing outstanding customer service

Position Responsibilities:

  • Strategically manage warehouse in compliance with company’s policies and vision
  • Oversee & manage the efficient receiving, warehousing, value-adding servicing, dispatch & distribution of a wide range of producer products and maintenance operations
  • Ensure efficient space utilization
  • Initiate, coordinate and enforce optimal operational policies and procedures
  • Adhere to all warehousing, handling and transport legislation requirements
  • Maintain standards of health and safety, hygiene and security
  • Manage stock control and reconcile with Syspro and internal software systems
  • Prepare annual budget
  • Liaise with clients, suppliers and transport companies
  • Plan work rotas, assign tasks appropriately and appraise results
  • Recruit, select, orient, coach and motivate and manage employees
  • Produce reports and statistics regularly (In/Out status report, dead stock report etc)
  • Receive feedback and monitor the quality of services provided
  • Ensure productivity targets are achieved and that all warehouse processes are running smoothly and promptly
