Saxenburg Winery, a reputable family-owned establishment located in Stellenbosch, is currently seeking an Assistant Winemaker. Established with a rich history, Saxenburg is known for its commitment to quality and excellence in winemaking. We are looking for an energetic and dynamic individual with excellent interpersonal skills in both Afrikaans and English to join our team.

Role Description:
As an Assistant Winemaker at Saxenburg Winery, you will play a crucial role in supporting various aspects of the winemaking process. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, conducting grape maturity analysis, monitoring fermentation processes, and participating in wine blending activities. Additionally, you will be involved in ensuring compliance with relevant quality and regulatory standards such as IPW, SAWIS, and WIETA. Inventory management, cellar staff supervision, record keeping, general cellar administration, and assisting in the maintenance of machinery and equipment are also key components of this role.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Viticulture and Oenology.
Minimum of two years of experience in winemaking.
Thorough understanding of winemaking principles and techniques, encompassing grape growing, harvesting, and fermentation.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong ability to collaborate within a team.
Basic computer proficiency, including knowledge of Excel and Word.
Meticulous attention to detail and capability to work independently.
Possession of own reliable transport and a valid driver’s license.
Availability to commence work in middle to late April.
