About the role:

The Customer Marketing Manager, reporting to the Customer Marketing Executive, is responsible for effectively integrating the brand marketing strategy with the International sales strategy, acting as a conduit between the two functions, ensuring relevant campaigns and mechanics are effectively implemented across all channels. Areas of responsibility include all International markets with the core purpose of driving brand priorities and capitilising on market opportunities within these priorities within the wine category to grow volume, revenue and market share.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Work closely with the relevant Marketing and International Sales Teams to action and execute trade marketing plans, aligned to the brand marketing plan, for effective implementation in the each market and channel:
  • Ensure efficient and effective implementation of campaign planning and execution, on time and in full
  • Work closely with International Sales teams and agents to compile market and channel plan presentations in line with business and brand strategy, as directed by Customer Marketing Executive;
  • Work closely with the company’s International sales team, enabling them to meet their commercial objectives by providing them with appropriate tools, materials, and collateral from the brand teams - including procurement thereof;
  • Regular communication and interaction with equivalent functions in all key customers and agents across the Globe. Building relationships to maximise activation opportunities and brand equity;
  • Manage implementation and execution of all trade campaigns, promotions, and customer events - including procurement thereof;
  • Development and take accountability of activity grids and toolkits for seasonal campaigns and plans in collaboration with the Global marketing and International Sales teams to deliver comprehensive toolkits for regional implementation;
  • Assume responsibility for the selection of participation and presentation of product, brand and POS of events –
    • All International Trade Shows including but not limited to – eg. Prowein, VinExpo Asia, Cape Wine
    • Internal and external training
  • Administer and be responsible for the specified trade marketing budgets for all staffing, resources and marketing expenditure for related Trade Shows;
  • In conjunction with the Customer Marketing Executive and all Regional Directors and Sales Managers, monitor Global competitor activity, sharing all developments with marketing lead, and developing pro-active response tactics;

  • Trade Marketing expertise: The successful candidate will have previous Trade/Shopper Marketing experience role, ideally within FMCG or the drinks industry;
  • Project management skills: We are looking for someone who is highly organised, with strong attention to detail. The successful applicant will deliver projects on time, in full, within budget;
  • Strategic capabilities: Proven ability to think strategically in the short, medium and long term
  • Industry knowledge: Great knowledge of international wine markets including grocers, independent retail, and hospitality channels;
  • Ability to work independently;
  • Flexibility to travel when required.

 Experience required:

  • A minimum of 5 years sales/trade marketing FMCG experience, preferably in the beverage industry;
  • Established Trade experience (wine industry advantageous);
  • Experience within Group Accounts and Key Accounts;
  • Established commercial experience in an FMCG environment, preferably premium drinks;
  • Strong project management experience;
  • Excellent knowledge and application of Microsoft Office.

 Qualifications:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification diploma or degree
  • Wine qualifications advantageous
