Position Summary: The Tasting Room Sales Manager is charged with overseeing the daily operations and guest experience at Benguela Cove Estate and Winery. Playing a dual role in both management and education, this individual is responsible for training all staff across the estate on wine knowledge and sales techniques. Their objective is to ensure both an enriching guest experience and maximize staff productivity and sales.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Management/Leadership:
• Lead, manage, and coordinate the tasting room staff, ensuring maximum productivity.
• Collaborate with the management team on promotions, events, sales, and marketing strategies.
• Regularly update the tasting menu, signage, and promotional materials.
• Attend and contribute to team meetings.
• Monitor sales targets and collaborate with the sales team.
• Provide strategic leadership, recruitment, and retention of Tasting Room staff.
• Oversee staff scheduling, payroll, tip management, and inventory of products.
• Conduct monthly inventory assessments.
• Coordinate with the Financial Controller on supply orders and financial issues.
• Communicate relevant updates, issues, or concerns to the MD.
• Contribute and take part in marketing meetings

Tasting Room Operations:
• Oversee guest experience and tasting room workflow.
• Ensure activations, events, and promotional activities drive wine sales.
• Manage staff availability to meet operational needs and special events.
• Coordinate entertainment schedules for weekends.
• Uphold strict opening and closing procedures.
• Facilitate comprehensive wine training for staff and ensure adherence to hospitality standards.
• Address guest feedback with professionalism and courtesy.
• Support online and in-store wine shipping in collaboration with the winery.
• Maintain cleanliness and appealing presentation of the tasting room and its surroundings.

Staff Training & Development:
• Conduct comprehensive wine training sessions for staff across the estate.
• Motivate tasting room staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and enthusiasm.
• Implement sales techniques and strategies to drive wine sales.

General:
• Collaborate with the winery and management team to design engaging and educational guest experiences.
• Foster a team-oriented atmosphere with the Tasting Room staff.
• Exhibit professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.
• Attend external events and tastings as necessary.
• Uphold the ethical and legal standards of Benguela Cove in all interactions.
• Undertake any other relevant tasks as required.

Qualifications & Skills:
• Effective written and oral communication.
• Detail-oriented with a strong customer service focus.
• Valid Driver’s License required.
• Proficient in MS Word and Excel.
• Proven ability to engage positively with employees across all levels in a team environment.
• Exceptional planning, organization, and multitasking abilities.
• Strong hospitality, sales, and organizational skills.
• Availability for evening and weekend shifts.
• Physical ability to stand for extended durations.
