Our client, a wine farm based in the Helderberg, is looking to appoint a maintenance manager to the team.

The goal of this appointment is to ensure that the maintenance department is structured, efficient & accountable.  This position will ideally suit a handy individual who has the ability to think on their feet, come up with timeous solutions and stay calm in crisis. You will be willing to work alongside your team whilst taking responsibility for mentoring & training them to reach greater performance.

This position will ideally suit a practically orientated individual who is a versatile all-rounder with a good knowledge of various aspects of maintenance. You will have excellent problem solving skills and the ability to take initiative in order to find timeous solutions. You will be confident, yet willing to accept instructions and work alongside the team.

The landscape of activities will include, buildings, farm equipment, machinery & vehicles, residential issues as well as security infrastructure.

You will have the ability to: -

  • Manage the team by scheduling & prioritizing work. Maintaining training & mentoring. Ensuring standards of execution is aimed at reaching the expected outcomes.
  • Manage budgets, expenses, ordering, spare parts inventory, tools & equipment & team involvement in stock control.
  • Source, evaluate and manage relationships with contractors
  • Adhere to all Health & Safety protocols that apply to the department & the farm

Requirements:-

Suitable qualification (ie. Electrical, mechanical, plumbing etc)

5 – 10 years experience in a similar position

Ability to communicate at all levels

Valid drivers license

Willing to be on standby outside of work hours

The nature of this position is physical and outdoors. The incumbent must be able to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolds, stairs and work in confined spaces and in proximity to loud equipment. Must be able to position one-self to work in confined spaces such as trenches, pits, manholes, attics and tunnels.
