Position: Wine Estate Assistant Winemaker
Location: Bottelary Road, Koelenhof, Swartrivier Farm.
Role Overview: As our Assistant Winemaker, you'll collaborate closely with our experienced winemaking team to bring our exceptional wines from vineyard to bottle. From harvest to cellar operations, you'll be immersed in every aspect of the winemaking process, gaining invaluable hands-on experience and contributing your expertise to our pursuit of excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in all stages of winemaking, from grape harvest to bottling, ensuring the highest standards of quality and consistency.
- Conduct regular vineyard inspections and participate in grape sampling and analysis during harvest.
- Support cellar operations, including fermentation management, barrel work, wine racking etc.
- Maintain accurate records of winemaking activities and inventory management.
- Collaborate with the winemaking team to develop and implement innovative techniques to enhance wine quality and efficiency.
- Uphold our commitment to sustainable and environmentally responsible winemaking practices.
Requirements:
- Degree or diploma in oenology, viticulture, or related field.
- Previous experience in a winery or vineyard environment advantageous.
- Strong passion for wine and a desire to continually learn and grow in the industry.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours.
- Commitment to upholding our winery's values of quality, integrity, and sustainability.
- Knowledge of Quality systems, FSSC et al will count in your favor.
