A vacancy exists for a creative and innovative individual to join our team as Product Development Coordinator.  The successful candidate will report directly to the New Product Development Manager.

Responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:

  • Responsible for the overall coordination of product development projects and drive them accordingly to ensure business deadlines are achieved in the Wine, Spirits, Beer and RTD categories.
  • Create and communicate product and project briefs to suppliers, customers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Proofread artwork to ensure it is correct as per the Artwork Brief before it is submitted for Final Artwork.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to obtain approval on artwork.
  • Drive the packaging proofs for the roll out of projects that form part of his/her portfolio to ensure deadlines are met accordingly.
  • Ensure that all packaging mock-ups are developed according to the brief and approved by the relevant stakeholders.
  • Apply an understanding of printing processes to ensure that artwork is implemented as per the respective printing process.
  • Liaise with printers to obtain electronic colour proofs.
  • Attend online print approvals when required.
  • Track and monitor timelines on own projects.
  • Support the NPD Manager by keeping the relevant NPD databases up to date.
  • Perform product development department’s administrative duties.
  • When required assist in preparing and reviewing cost estimates of new projects.
  • Various other tasks as may be required in the Department.
  • Keep abreast of latest packaging developments, printing processes, innovations, and trends relevant to the industry.
  • Build internal and external relationships across departments and with designers, Legal authorities, and suppliers.
  • Accurate, professional, and timeous communication with marketing, operational and administrative staff, as well as designers and relevant Industry Authorities.
  • Ensuring that NPD processes and procedures are followed.

 Skills & Qualifications required:

  • Minimum relevant Tertiary Qualification
  • At least 2-3 years related experience in Project Management, Packaging Development or Marketing Management.
  • SAP experience would be advantageous.
  • Previous experience in conducting online print approvals and a good understanding of packaging artwork design, processes, and packaging processes.
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of current packaging design trends, technologies, labelling and packaging regulations and administrative buying processes within the FMCG industry.
