18-month fixed term work experience

Vinpro, situated in Paarl, is an independent service provider to South African wine producers. Vinpro serves the wine industry with a wide range of specialized services, ranging from soil science to viticulture consultation and innovative vineyard demonstration trials. 

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an energetic and dynamic graduate to join our team. The candidate will be exposed to many facets of the viticulture industry and gain experience from experts in the field.

Requirements for the ideal candidate:

  • Recent graduate with a tertiary qualification (degree or diploma) with focus on Viticulture/Oenology/Soil Science
  • ‘Can do’ and team-orientated attitude
  • Willingness to work outdoors
  • Ability to lift and carry 20 kg
  • Own accommodation, preferably near Paarl (Vinpro head office)
  • Own transport and a valid driver's license
  • Microsoft Office – numerical abilities
  • Fully bilingual in Afrikaans and English
  • Have the capability to perform projects individually and in a team environment

What will be expected of the intern:

  • The candidate will rotate among various Vinpro departments to optimise exposure to different activities taking place within the Vinpro Group
  • Various types of fieldwork, collecting soil and vineyard samples and conducting field measurements
  • Collecting and logging data
  • Participation in information gathering events, including Information Days, Forums, Demonstration Days & Technical meetings

Mentorship and guidance will be provided to the candidate by employees within the various groups.

In terms of Vinpro’s employment equity plan, preference will be given to candidates from a previously disadvantaged background.
