A very well-established wine distribution company is looking for an “Assistant Warehouse Manager” to join their team on a full-time permanent basis in Klapmuts.

About the role:
The Assistant Warehouse Manager will oversee the operations of the company’s Feeder warehouse in Klapmuts. In addition to managing and supervising staff at different levels, he/she will oversee the efficient receipt, storage, value-adding servicing and dispatch of a wide variety of products. Ultimately, he/she should be able to ensure productivity targets are achieved and that all warehouse processes are running smoothly and promptly.

Position Requirements:
• Proven work experience in the wine distribution industry, in a supervisory or management role.
• Experience with high level of SKUs (+/- 900 SKU’s).
• Excellent leadership skills, including the abilities to set goals, motivate and manage conflict.
• Formidable abilities in strategic planning, problem solving, decision making and process improvement.
• Strong knowledge of warehousing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
• Hands on experience with warehouse management software and databases, as well as general software and applications, and organizational computer applications.
• Exceptional communication skills, including writing, speaking and active listening. Bilingual or multilingual would be advantageous.
• Must be committed to providing outstanding customer service through impeccable interpersonal skills and exceptional time management and organizational skills.
• Willing and able to work on Weekends and public holidays.
• BS degree in Logistics, supply chain management, business administration or equivalent will be advantageous.

Position Responsibilities:
• Strategically manage warehouse in compliance with company’s policies, procedures, vision, mission, Values and Delivery manifesto.
• Oversee & manage the efficient receiving, warehousing, value-adding servicing, dispatch & distribution of a wide range of Brand Partner products.
• Maintain the operational and physical condition of the warehouse, property, machinery and equipment.
• Ensure efficient space utilization.
• Initiate, coordinate and enforce optimal operational policies and procedures.
• Adhere to all warehousing, handling and transport legislation requirements.
• Maintain standards of health and safety, hygiene, and security.
• Manage stock control and reconcile with Syspro and internal software systems.
• Liaise with clients, suppliers and transport companies.
• Collaboration and alignment with management and other team leads, on a regional and national basis.
• Complete warehouse operational requirements by assisting with scheduling and assigning employees.
• Maintain warehouse staff by orienting, and training employees.
• Improve staff performance by coaching, counselling, and disciplining employees; manage staff performance within KPIs.
• Produce reports and statistics regularly (In/Out status report, activity reports, NPL reports etc)
• Receive feedback and monitor the quality of services provided.
• Ensure productivity targets are achieved and that all warehouse processes are running smoothly and promptly.
