Purpose: The incumbent mainly oversees the compliance of contractors to Health & Safety Regulations, risk and security functions and procedures at both Paarl and Worcester Operational plants, Pest Control, Responsible for compiling company reports regarding health and safety contractor management, risk and security, investigations and inspections carried out on company grounds, auditing and risk survey reviews. The incumbent is responsible for and will continually strive to ensure that only food safe and quality services, that meets all applicable standards and requirements (legal, regulatory and client), are supplied with integrity.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Diploma/ Degree in Occupational Health and Safety (SAMTRAC)
  • Security Degree/ Diploma. Grade A security registration at the Security Regulating Authority
  • At least 5 years experience in security and OHS
  • At least 2 years experience in administration processes
  • One year experience in the management field concerning Occupational Health and Safety and Security
  • Good knowledge and understanding of Occupational Health and Safety and related law aspects
  • Knowledge of Quality Control and management would be advantageous

Skills Required:

  • Good computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent administration skills
  • Good communication skills (English and Afrikaans)
  • Able to route cause analyses
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to conduct Hazard and Risk Identification

Job Summary:

  • Manage monthly payments of Security and Pest Control.
  • Ensure that expenditure on Security, Pest control and Fire equipment is managed within budget.
  • Ensure that the correct processes are followed when purchasing equipment, calibrated or serviced with respect to Quotations, Requisitions and Purchase orders.
  • Minimize security and Health & safety incidents.
  • Ensure Health & safety induction to contractors and employees – issue induction cards
  • Contractor management ( Safety Files)
  • Conduct Security and EHS Risk Assessments
  • Compliance with certification standards and environmental regulations.
  • Ongoing Review of Risk assessments
  • Timeously investigation of incidents and closeouts
  • Manage Fire Equipment inspections
  • Manage & Maintain Security services and procedures
  • Attend quarterly Health & Safety Committee meeting
  • Liaison with SAPS and Fire department
  • Manage Pest Control processes
  • Conducts departmental evacuation drills.
  • Acquaintance with policies, procedures and legal aspects pertaining to OHS, Security, Waste & Pest Control.
  • Personal physical interaction with employees and contractors on a daily basis
  • Manage and oversee the in-house security officer
  • Conduct meetings with the relevant service providers in his area of responsibility to discuss problems and new tasks
