Vineyard Spray & Tractor Operator - Market Related

Blaauwklippen Agricultural Estate Stellenbosch (Pty) Ltd is looking for a new Vineyard Spray & Tractor Operator to join their vineyard team. The ideal candidate must be self-motivated, hard-working, enthusiastic, and able to work in a team but also independently.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

• General vineyard worker when not driving the tractor.
• The tractor operator will be responsible for seasonal spraying of vineyards and other crops.
• Spraying of vines and other plants with chemicals might include the control of weed growth, insects, fungus growth and diseases.
• Plant of vines and other plants using hand tools and farm machines, pruning & irrigation for vineyard growth.
• Operating farm machines to cultivate, fertilise, spray and harvest grapes.
• Selects and picks grapes according to size and ripeness, and discards rotting and over-ripened produce.
• The tractor operator must operating tractors safely and efficiently.
• Using tractors to transport materials (filled grape containers) and pull or push agricultural equipment.
• Driving and carrying out regular maintenance and repairs of tractors and other farm implements.
• Remaining alert while driving and servicing the tractor and always maintaining the appropriate speed limit.
• Reporting any vineyard faults or concerns to the Vineyard Manager.
• Completing minor repairs on tractor and farm equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• At least 3 years tractor driving experience
• Must have at least 3 years of Vineyard/ Agricultural experience
