Jordan Wine Estate requires an experienced, hardworking, enthusiastic individual to join our team as Financial Accountant.

The successful candidate is a solution-driven team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, can work accurately under pressure and is self-driven. The candidate is passionate about wine and hospitality, loyal and relishes working in an environment crafted through relationships and family principles. Accounting history on a wine farm with own vineyards, production facilities, distribution facilities and hospitality avenues will be advantageous.

Duties:

The Accountant will report to the Financial Manager and will be responsible for (but not limited to):

  • Preparation of monthly Management Reports for financial performance reviews of FOH departments;
  • Ensuring accurate bookkeeping for month-end and year-end closing, including inter-departmental transactions and costing;
  • Participating in annual budget reviews with department heads, monitoring budget variances and recommending required changes;
  • Responsible for monthly VAT and Excise Duties reconciliations and filings and reviewing wine exports;
  • Overseeing inventory review of FOH departments, cost management and reconciliations;
  • Checking bank reconciliations and daily cash processes, including reconciling Balance Sheet control accounts prepared by other finance staff;
  • Reviewing outstanding direct-to-consumer accounts and payments;
  • Maintaining an updated Fixed Asset Register, reconciling it to the trial balance, and reviewing capital invoices;
  • Designing & overseeing the implementation of internal controls for deposits, cash, stock and FOH sales transactions;
  • Assisting in reviewing and approving creditor invoices, beneficiaries, and payments;
  • Reviewing credit notes and warehouse transfers processed by other finance staff;
  • Providing financial insights on revenue trends and expense drivers to support decision-making for HOD’s and Directors;
  • Liaising with auditors on external audits and collaborating with the Financial Manager to ensure compliance with annual financial statements;
  • Reviewing gratuity payouts and preparing accurate sales commissions;
  • Working on ad-hoc queries such as participating in various meetings and communicating -with relevant stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • A relevant tertiary accounting qualification (B.Com with completed articles);
  • ± five (5) years relevant experience and experience within the wine industry are pre- requisites;
  • Computer literate (Pastel, MS Office);
  • Experienced in dealing with SARS, SAWIS and working knowledge of the Income Tax and VAT;
  • Own reliable transport
