The GEN-Z Vineyard Project Team is growing, and we are looking to fill an exciting Junior Viticulturist position.
The GEN-Z Vineyard Project is an information transfer project established within the Consultation Department of Vinpro, with a focus on practical knowledge transfer to support winegrowers with vineyard management-specific decision-making.
We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to expand our team and play an integral role in a wide range of project activities. The ideal candidate is someone with a tertiary education in Viticulture and Oenology with intermediate Excel skills. A post-graduate degree would be considered advantageous. A driver’s license is required.
The position is well suited to an individual who performs well in a team environment, with strong communication skills, but can also work independently to achieve the team’s goals. The position involves some local travel within the winegrowing regions with a base in Paarl at Vinpro’s head office.
Key responsibilities
- Liaison with winegrowers - managing relationships and collaboration with growers
- Scheduling activities, demo evaluations, field work with growers and team members
- Presenting GEN-Z Project to industry groups and hosting field sessions
- Establish new demo sites and assist with vine orders
- Field visits to monitor demos and status of vines
- Collection of data at demo plots, analysis of samples in the lab (in season) with interns
- Data management
- Writing short articles for GEN-Z website and Wineland
- Sourcing of information/articles on latest developments/innovations to share with GEN-Z Team & consultants
- Management of Instagram profile, Facebook profile
- Administrative tasks: record-keeping of GEN-Z related meetings and compiling of reports
