Maintenance Manager position

We are looking for a motivated and self-sufficient person to take the lead of the maintenance team on the estate. The successful candidate must be able to manage and prioritize various departments' tasks effectively. They should also have strong leadership skills and must be able to manage the maintenance team. The successful candidate must be able to work under pressure and be available after hours for emergencies. It will be advantageous if you have previous experience working on a wine farm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform a wide range of maintenance tasks including plumbing, electrical work, painting, carpentry, and general repairs.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify and address maintenance needs throughout the estate and facilities.
  • Manage access control.
  • Liaise with the head of departments and promptly attend to any issues that arise.
  • Maintain accurate records of all work performed and materials used.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance needs and support other team members as required.
  • Take accountability for tools and equipment, ensuring they are well-maintained and stored properly.
  • Support and oversee subcontracted services and coordinate with the general manager
  • Ensure all safety and emergency procedures are followed and maintained.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar position.
  • Basic understanding of plumbing and electrical systems.
  • Matric or equivalent qualification.
  • Competent in using the MS Office Suite.
  • Valid Code B (Code EB preferred) driver’s license with a clear driving record.
  • Clear criminal record.
  • Ability to work under pressure, multitask, and remain calm in emergencies.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.


South African citizenship is advantageous. A valid work permit, Visa and Passport is essential if you are not a South African citizen.
