Job Title: Commis Chef

Reports to:    The Commis Chef reports to the Head Chef

Purpose:    To skillfully produce a variety of food dishes to a high standard of preparation, production and presentation, working to costed recipes. 

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Ensure kitchen operations run smoothly and efficiently
  • Monitor and maintain adequate kitchen inventory levels
  • Ensure that recipes and food preparation instructions are followed correctly
  • Ensure that all food cooked and served is of a high quality
  • Capturing and documenting production events and yield of products
  • Capturing and documenting waste events
  • Ensure that all equipment is in good working order
  • Ensure that all areas in the kitchen are kept clean and tidy at all times.  To assist in clearing, cleaning, washing within the kitchen, including in-depth cleaning, using any approve specialized products and methods laid down.
  • To maintain legal hygiene and safety requirements for food and equipment with particular responsibilities as laid down and agreed with the Head Chef
  • To aid stock taking within the total Kitchen Department in conjunction with the Head Chef
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties from time to time requested by the Head Chef

Requirements:

  • Culinary Certificate/Diploma
  • Preferably 1- 2 years previous experience as Commis Chef
  • Able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain a professional working relationship with all departments
  • Attention to detail
  • Productivity & efficiency
  • Self-disciplined
  • Ability to cope under pressure in a fast-paced environment
