Winemaker

Kleine Zalze Wines, situated in Stellenbosch is looking to recruit a dynamic and highly motivated Winemaker. The successful candidate must have a postgraduate qualification in Viticulture and Oenology with sufficient relevant experience of the total winemaking process. The suitable candidate will be offered the opportunity to live out his/her passion with a dynamic production team with the production of our premium award-winning wines.

The Winemaker will report directly to the Cellar Master and will be responsible for: 

• The winemaking process and any tasks as required in the production department.
• Laboratory analyses and processing of data.
• Input of all cellar data on WineMS computer program.
• General cellar documentation and certification, including bottling and SAWIS forms.
• Manage third party wine storage
• Manage the bottling schedule
• Preparation of wines and samples for presentation to buyers according to wine styles required.
• Support marketing and sales team with marketing duties when required.
• Ad hoc tasks as necessary for the smooth function of the cellar.

Minimum requirements: 

• Tertiary qualification in Winemaking.
• 3-4 years’ experience as a Winemaker in a facility/cellar.
• Experience in winemaking.
• Good administration skills.
• Good communication skills.
• Must have good attention to detail and be well organised.
• Team player.
• Own reliable transport to get to and from work.
