Situated in the heart of Stellenbosch’s wine country, our historic wine estate is renowned for its premium wines, dining, and scenic setting. We are searching for a skilled and motivated Food and Beverage Manager to lead our dining and beverage operations, which include our on-site restaurant, tasting room, and event catering.
Position Summary:
The Food and Beverage Manager will be responsible for overseeing all food and beverage services to deliver an outstanding guest experience. This role will involve upholding service standards, ensuring profitability, and maintaining guest satisfaction through a hands-on, team-oriented approach. We seek a leader with strong organizational, customer service, and management abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operations Management: Supervise daily operations across the restaurant, tasting room, and catering services, ensuring seamless service and adherence to operational standards.
- Team Leadership: Recruit, train, schedule, and manage F&B staff, fostering a positive, efficient, and guest-focused team environment.
- Guest Experience: Ensure an exceptional guest experience by maintaining high standards, effectively handling guest inquiries, and constantly seeking ways to enhance service.
- Financial Management: Create and manage F&B budgets, monitor financial performance, and implement strategies to meet revenue and profitability goals while upholding quality.
- Inventory and Stock Control: Maintain optimal inventory levels, manage supplier relationships, and perform regular stock audits to ensure availability and cost control.
- Menu Development: Work with the culinary team to craft and update menus that emphasize high-quality, locally sourced ingredients, wine pairings, and seasonal offerings.
- Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to all health and safety regulations, including food safety, hygiene practices, and responsible alcohol service.
- Event Coordination: Collaborate with the Events team to plan and execute wine tastings, private functions, weddings, and other gatherings to guarantee seamless service.
- Marketing Support: Partner with the marketing team to promote dining and event offerings, including seasonal menus, special promotions, and estate events.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Food and Beverage Manager or a similar leadership role in hospitality, ideally within a wine estate, restaurant, or hotel.
- Strong knowledge of wine and food pairing, with a passion for food and beverage excellence.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational abilities.
- Financial acumen, with experience in budgeting, cost control, and financial analysis.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
- In-depth knowledge of health and safety standards and relevant legal regulations.
- A degree or diploma in hospitality management, food and beverage management, or a related field is a plus.
