Job summary
The laboratory assistant will perform routine analysis on both fermenting and finished wines. The candidate will work closely with and under the direction of the lab manager as well as the winemakers.
Job duties include but not limited to:
- Daily routine calibration of lab equipment as well as troubleshooting
- Daily routine analysis:
-Juice analysis: Ballings, PH/TA, SO2
-Wine analysis: VA, SO2, PH/TA, RS, ALK,EXT., NTU, Pressure, Yeast count
- Preparation of stock solutions
- Sampling of wines
- Balling and temperature checks
- Quality control checks
- Basic administration duties and Ad hoc
- Participation in Food safety, GMP, GLP requirements
Requirements:
- Diploma/degree in Winemaking, Analytical Chemistry, Biotechnology, Food Technology or any other relevant field will be advantageous. Students required to finish their work integrated learning component will also be considered.
- 1-2 years Lab experience will be advantageous.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Own transport required.
- Availability and willingness to work overtime.
