Job Summary:
We are expanding our team at Idiom Tasting Centre and are seeking experienced, service-driven waiters who are passionate about providing exceptional customer service in food and wine. The ideal candidates will be enthusiastic about sharing their knowledge with guests, upselling, and maintaining our high standards in both casual and event settings.

Responsibilities:

• Guest Service: Deliver attentive and personalized service to all guests, ensuring a warm and welcoming dining experience. Anticipate guest needs and handle any concerns or requests promptly and professionally.
• Wine and Food Knowledge: Be thoroughly familiar with our wine portfolio, food offerings, and the history of Idiom to confidently provide recommendations and answer guests' questions. A WSET or Cape Wine Academy certification is highly recommended and beneficial to your application.
• Upselling and Promotion: Proactively upsell menu items, wine pairings, and tasting experiences to enhance the guest experience and increase sales. Highlight unique features of our wines and encourage guests to try higher-value options when appropriate.
• Event Support: Assist in setting up, serving, and breaking down for events hosted at the Tasting Centre. Ensure all service meets our standards of quality, efficiency, and brand alignment.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with the kitchen and front-of-house team to ensure smooth, coordinated service and prompt response to guest needs.
• Cleanliness and Presentation: Keep all areas of the restaurant and tasting room customer-ready at all times, including tables, service stations, and restrooms. Maintain a high standard of personal presentation that aligns with the company's professional image.
• Compliance and Safety: Adhere to all health, safety, and hygiene regulations to maintain a safe and clean environment for guests and staff.

Requirements:

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a waiter in an upscale or fine dining restaurant is required.
• Wine Knowledge: A formal wine course, such as the Cape Wine Academy or WSET certification, is required to ensure familiarity with wine pairings and tasting protocols.
• Skills: Strong communication, teamwork, and multitasking abilities. A friendly, attentive demeanor and commitment to providing excellent service.

Additional Information:
This is a full-time position based in Somerset West at the Idiom Tasting Centre. Applicants must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays, as needed.
