Join a dynamic team at a renowned wine farm, nestled in the picturesque foothills of the Helderberg Mountains. We seek an energetic, passionate, and experienced Assistant front-of-house (FOH) Manager to lead a team of exceptional waitstaff and help deliver an outstanding hospitality experience.
In this role, you will oversee the execution of the farm’s wine and food offering, ensuring it meets and exceeds customer expectations in both the tasting room and restaurant. You will also assist the Hospitality Manager in managing and coordinating a team of Hospitality Assistants to deliver seamless service.
Hospitality:
- Managing the floor and maintaining a high service level of staff
- Host tours, lunches, and tastings, especially for VIP groups
- General waitron duties and tasks
- Hosting Cellar and Trophy Room Tours
- Assist Hospitality Manager with ad hoc tasks
- Assist Hospitality Manager in arranging functions - tasting room, meetings, staff functions, marketing functions
- Liaise with the kitchen regarding operations in the restaurant and tasting room (e.g. food-related matters and table seating)
- Take part in the leadership team by providing a high level of service and training Tasting Room Assistants to do the same
- Assisting with daily stock take, as well as month-end stock take for wine and beverages
Administration:
- Conducting opening and closing duties of the Front of the House
- Assist the Hospitality Manager in managing the Front of House Assistants
- Assisting in stock take, control, and reconciliation of the wine & beverage stock
- Notify the Hospitality Manager if stock is required on any Front of House item
- Stock take and reconciliation of wine and merchandise
- Responsible for daily cash-up
- Responsible for opening and closing duties for the Front of House Staff
- Report maintenance issues in the tasting room to the Hospitality Manager
- Ensure that the cleaner is operating effectively
Sales & Marketing:
- Checking that all details on shipping forms are filled in correctly
- Drive sales targets and motivate Hospitality Assistants to do the same
- Provide relevant information to be published on social network sites e.g. famous people
Qualifications and experience:
Front of House and/or Wine Service Courses an advantage (Cape Wine Academy)
Previous experience in a winery tasting room/restaurant
