Jakkalsvlei Private Cellar, situated in the scenic Garden Route outside Mossel Bay, has the above opportunity for an energetic and reliable individual to join their team for the harvest season.
Contract period: Middle January - end of May 2025.
The ability to function well in a team and work well in a high-pressure environment is essential to the role.
Responsibilities will include (but not be limited to): *assisting the winemaking team with daily operational cellar activities *ensuring general cellar equipment sanitation and cellar hygiene *handling additions and monitoring fermentation *uploading and unloading of pallets with a forklift *recordkeeping *taking sugar samples in the vineyard *all other tasks related to the role.
Essential qualifications, skills and experience:
• Diploma/Degree in Viticulture and Oenology will be to the candidate’s advantage;
• Previous harvest and/or cellar experience will be advantageous;
• Driver's license required (forklift license and own reliable transport will be advantageous);
• Willingness to perform physical labour and work after-hours and weekends as required.
