A renowned agriculture farm is looking for a ‘’Senior General Farm Manager’’ to join their team on a full-time permanent basis in the Oudtshoorn, Klein Karoo. Excellent compensation package on offer.

Position Requirements and Qualifications:

  • A Minimum 10 years of experience project managing large scale operations with demonstrable career achievements.
  • Exceptional leadership track record demonstrating initiative, the ability to project manage as well as build, lead and motivate teams effectively.
  • Proven experience managing large teams from senior managers to technical teams, to unskilled and semi-skilled workers.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, with the ability to shift priorities and rapidly realign project activities and under high pressure timeframes.
  • Excellent communication and people skills, with the ability to communicate effectively from unskilled workers through to stakeholders to company investors.
  • Acute sense of responsibility and problem-solving skills, taking ownership of projects to ensure they are good quality, on time and on budget.
  • Exceptional excel and software abilities, to effectively project manage multiple projects moving in parallel.
  • International experience, a plus.
  • Fluency in Afrikaans essential.
  • Driving license, with clean driving record
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment as part of a multi-national entrepreneurial company

Qualities:     

  • Strategic leadership – must be able to work with in order to develop a clear vision/strategy for the business with all its ramifications Fix full stops at end of each sentence or no full stops.
  • Must be able to clearly formulate, communicate and implement the agreed strategy/plans for each branch/section of the farm.
  • Must be able to communicate and negotiate effectively with other role players in the agricultural environment [ e.g. CKI, ABSA, KKA, KKSP, BKB ]
  • Must have excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Maintain good people relationships and have excellent communication skills.
  • Motivate the other managers/employees and make them work together in a team - i.e. have strong leadership qualities.
  • Establish reporting lines
  • Being able to apply discipline
  • Be financially savvy and play crucial role in budget[s] drafting
  • Feedback [financial and otherwise] provided in the format requested by board
  • Must be able to capitalize projects

Position Responsibilities:

Operations:

The candidate must take overall and comprehensive responsibility for the effective management of all the different farming branches and sections. Each branch/section sets its own requirements.

Administration:

  • Steer, motivate and guide the management teams as well as build capacity and create common purpose amongst staff at all levels ensuring the promotion of a positive, motivated and happy work environment for all staff, leading from the front.
  • Provide leadership and direction to staff ensuring excellent communication and that project scope, targets, objectives and outcomes are clearly defined and updated.
  • General oversight and responsibility of all in-country legal and administrative aspects relating to the company’s operations.
  • Engage with stakeholders and parties interested in the project, and all sustainability standards.
  • With the Finance Manager and board, develop annual budgets for approval.
  • Project manage the implementation of these budgets with continued efforts to improve efficiency associated with project activities.
  • Recruit and oversee staff required for efficient expansion building teams to align with short- and long-term objectives.
