We are seeking a dynamic self-starter, detail-oriented and proactive Financial Controller to oversee the financial operations of our hospitality business unit, which includes a restaurant, wine sales and wine-tasting experiences.   

Position Purpose:

The Financial Controller’s primary responsibilities centre on ensuring the business unit operates effectively, financial reporting is accurate and timely, and assets are safeguarded through effective controls.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years in financial control, preferably within the hospitality sector.
  • Proficiency in point-of-sale systems (Ikentoo preferred)
  • Experience with ERP software (Business Central or similar)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent attention to detail and financial accuracy.
  • Ability to implement and maintain internal financial controls.
  • Willing to relocate

Responsibilities:

  • Financial Operations & Controls:
    • Performing daily financial procedures, including cash-ups, reconciliation of receipts and proof of payments.
    • Close daily shifts on the point-of-sale system and reconcile transactions to the accounting system.
    • Perform day-end procedures to ensure accuracy and completeness of accounting and prepare for next business day hand-over.
    • Ensure accurate and complete accounting records, including processing purchase invoices.
    • Design, implement and oversight of general and specific operational and financial controls to ensure the accuracy, completeness and validity of accounting information and safeguarding of all assets.
  • System Management & Reconciliations
    • Ensure a seamless interface between the point-of-sale system (Ikentoo) and the accounting system (Business Central).
    • Perform regular reconciliations between POS transactions and financial accounts.
    • Perform control checks on sales and purchases, e.g. analytical reviews and actuals benchmarked against budget.
  • Inventory & Asset Management
    • Perform control checks on purchases, ensuring three-way matching (Purchase Order, Goods Received Note, and Invoices)
    • Oversee and reconcile all hospitality stock, including wine, food, and retail items, ensuring proper safeguarding of inventory.
  • Budgeting & Financial Reporting
    • Prepare annual budgets/forecasts and update quarterly to reflect changing circumstances and/or operational changes.
    • Provide monthly financial reports against budget/forecast and operational targets.
    • Deliver periodical reports against agreed KPIs to the CFO, ensuring transparency and financial accountability.
