We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Restaurant & Event Supervisor to join our team in the heart of the beautiful Paarl Winelands. This key role, reporting to our Hospitality Manager, combines the oversight of our daily restaurant operations with the coordination and management of events, ensuring seamless service delivery and an unforgettable guest experience. Key Responsibilities:
Restaurant Management:
Oversee daily front-of-house operations, ensuring smooth service flow and adherence to company standards.
Supervise and motivate restaurant staff, assigning tasks and ensuring high levels of performance.
Handle customer inquiries, ensuring a welcoming environment and resolving concerns promptly.
Coordinate reservations, managing systems for efficient seating arrangements and guest experience (Dineplan).
Maintain cleanliness and organisation in the restaurant, ensuring a comfortable dining environment.
Manage inventory, oversee stock removal, and ensure supplies are efficiently handled.
Monitor time and attendance, ensuring adequate staff coverage.
Event Coordination:
Together with the Hospitality Manager, plan and execute events, from intimate gatherings to large-scale celebrations, ensuring each event runs smoothly.
Collaborate with clients, vendors, and internal teams to understand event requirements and manage logistics.
Create detailed event plans, including seating, dining, décor, and staffing needs.
Coordinate with suppliers for event-related items and ensure timely delivery and setup.
Handle invoicing and payment collection for events, staying within budget parameters.
Address any issues or changes that arise during events, maintaining a positive experience for clients and guests.
Team Leadership:
Supervise, train, and develop restaurant and event staff to maintain a high standard of service.
Foster a positive, collaborative working environment and encourage teamwork across all departments.
Provide ongoing feedback and performance evaluations to ensure continuous improvement.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
A suitable qualification in Events Management, Hospitality or Tourism.
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a supervisory role in hospitality or events management.
Strong leadership and communication skills, with a hands-on approach to team management.
Previous experience with event planning, logistics, and vendor management.
Proficient in restaurant management software (Dineplan and Pilot) and Microsoft Office.
Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills. Wine service experience essential.
Knowledge of food hygiene standards is beneficial.
Own transport essential.
