The Perdeberg Group, situated in the Paarl wine region, has an opportunity available for an experienced Chef to join their restaurant kitchen team.
The successful candidate is a culinary expert with a passion for creating memorable dining experiences, and will play a crucial role in menu development, kitchen management, staff training, and maintaining a collaborative kitchen environment.
KPA's will include: *Growth and customer satisfaction: understanding culinary techniques, industry trends, seasonal produce, and identifying growth opportunities. *Menu Development: creating and updating innovative and appealing menus, sourcing quality ingredients and establishing relationships with local suppliers, negotiating with suppliers, creating standard recipe cards. *Kitchen Management: managing daily kitchen operations, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. *People Management (kitchen staff): conducting training sessions on culinary skills and best practice, conducting performance appraisals. *Budget Management: collaborating with the General Manager: Hospitality in developing & managing kitchen budgets, conducting cost analyses, implementing inventory control measures. *Quality Control: conducting inspections & implementing SOP’s to uphold quality standards. *All ad hoc functions related to the position.
Essential qualifications, skills, and experience:
• A culinary tertiary qualification and/or accredited practical training;
• Minimum 4 years’ experience in a kitchen servicing 240-300 pax, including 2 years’ experience as a Head Chef;
• Fully bilingual (Afrikaans & English);
• Good computer literacy (MS Office);
• Valid driver’s license and own reliable transport.
