South Africa Wine provides essential support services to the wine and brandy value chain with the vision to enable it to become more robust, transformed, agile & competitive.

The main purpose of this role is to:

  • Create awareness of the latest local and international scientific research pertaining to Viticulture & Oenology in the South African Wine industry
  • Facilitate the transfer of knowledge generated by local and international research into the broader wine industry
  • Support industry players in adopting and integrating new ways of working and new technologies to ensure that they are more economically and environmentally sustainable in the future

Reporting to the Executive Manager RDI, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

Key responsibilities:

  • Knowledge transfer
  • Research and Development (proposals, projects, positioning, stakeholder engagement)
  • Research & development positioning and stakeholder engagement.
  • Administration
  • Ad Hoc Tasks

Requirements:

  • A BSc degree in Agriculture with specialisation in Viticulture and Oenology.
  • A postgraduate qualification in Vine and Wine related fields will be advantageous.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in knowledge transfer or in a viticulture and oenology environment.
  • Wine industry technical knowledge.
  • Excellent communication and editing skills (English and Afrikaans)
  • Good interpersonal, planning and organising skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
  • Sound administrative skills, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure, independently and as part of a team.
  • A positive, energetic, professional, and assertive individual.
  • Valid driver’s license with own vehicle.
