Line chef needed at La Vierge, Hermanus, to join our creative culinary team. As one of our team members, you will be responsible for a specific work station, will need to  prepare food to order, be able to work in different sections in the kitchen, be able to plan and prepare ahead of time and be a good team player.

We need a candidate that is creative and passionate about culinary art, someone who can deliver the highest quality service possible and someone who is diverse in their skills as a chef.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Ensure food is prepared, portioned, garnished and presented according to the executive chef’s standards
• Manage and own a work station
• Apply food safety and sanitation procedures
• Plan for following day of service
• Knowledgeable on cooking chemistry and the ability to apply culinary techniques.
• Manage wastage in the kitchen
• Ensure consistency and high-quality standards are kept and maintained in the kitchen at all times.
• Stock take and inventory control
• Help manage food costs and portion sizes
• Work in a timely manner

Requirements
• Grade 12
• Culinary degree
• Proven experience as a chef (at least 3 years)
• Work in a high-stress environment
