Sales Manager – Waterford Estate, Stellenbosch
Waterford Estate, a leading luxury wine estate in Stellenbosch, is seeking an experienced and driven Sales Manager. This senior role demands a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of the wine industry, a robust professional network, and a proven track record in wine sales and market expansion.
Key responsibilities:
- Drive growth through strategic partnerships with distributors, trade partners, and direct clients, leveraging proactive engagement, key account negotiations, and premium listings
- Ensure compliance with relevant trade regulations, including logistics and documentation
- Oversee forecasting, reporting, and performance analysis to inform data-driven decisions
- Manage sales budgets effectively, aligning spend with strategic goals
- Represent Waterford Estate at key trade shows, industry events, and tastings
- Enhance sales team capabilities through comprehensive training and continuous support initiatives
- Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, DTC and production teams to ensure brand consistency and strategic alignment
Required qualifications, skills & experience:
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in a sales role within the wine sector
- Comprehensive understanding of wine markets and distribution channels
- Strong business development, negotiation, and relationship-building abilities
- Established industry network
- Familiarity with trade compliance, logistics, and distribution operations
- Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite and CRM platforms
- Fluent in both Afrikaans and English (additional languages will be advantageous)
- Willingness to travel locally and internationally as needed
- Tertiary qualifications will be advantageous
- A proven track record in sales leadership with premium wines
