Train restaurant staff on wine knowledge and service standards

Ensure correct presentation and serving temperature of all beverages

Maintain and update the wine list as needed

Place orders for wines and other beverages in accordance with inventory levels

Liaise with suppliers and source new wines to enhance the estate's portfolio

Set up the wine service area prior to each service shift
-
Monitor and maintain sufficient beverage stock and equipment
-
Conduct regular equipment checks and report any maintenance issues
-
Perform routine temperature checks to ensure quality control
-
Maintain and clean all decanters, ensuring they are in excellent condition
-
Minimize losses through breakage, waste, theft, or incorrect ordering
-
Conduct monthly beverage stock-takes
-
Promote guest satisfaction through exceptional wine service
-
Adhere to all liquor laws and ensure compliance with the Liquor Act (No. 59 of 2003)

Grade 12 and certificate from Cape Wine Academy or WSET Level 1
-
1–2 years of experience as a wine tutor or similar role (preferred)

Strong knowledge of wines, including grape varieties, wine regions, harvest periods, climates, soil types, and the winemaking process

Passion for wine and the hospitality industry

Strong product knowledge and communication skills

Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service

Ability to interact professionally with high-profile and distinguished clientele
