Kendrick Recruitment is currently seeking a professional and knowledgeable Sommelier for a prestigious fine dining restaurant located in Franschhoek. The ideal candidate will have a deep passion for wine, a strong understanding of food and wine pairing, and the ability to deliver exceptional service in a luxury dining environment.
Salary: R20,000 – R25,000 per month, negotiable depending on experience
Key Responsibilities:

Curate and maintain the restaurant's wine list, ensuring diversity, quality, and alignment with the menu

Provide expert recommendations to guests on wine pairings and selections

Conduct wine tastings and training sessions for front-of-house staff

Manage wine inventory, stock levels, and cellar organization

Build relationships with local and international wine suppliers

Monitor and ensure the proper storage, handling, and serving of all wines

Stay updated on wine industry trends and new products

Work closely with the Executive Chef and Restaurant Manager to enhance the guest experience

Deliver high standards of guest engagement, service, and wine education
Minimum Requirements:

Matric / Grade 12

Formal sommelier certification (WSET, CMS, or similar qualification)

Minimum 2–3 years’ experience as a sommelier in a fine dining or luxury hospitality environment

In-depth knowledge of local and international wines

Strong understanding of wine and food pairing principles

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Well-presented, professional, and guest-oriented

Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
