Kendrick Recruitment is currently seeking a professional and knowledgeable Sommelier for a prestigious fine dining restaurant located in Franschhoek. The ideal candidate will have a deep passion for wine, a strong understanding of food and wine pairing, and the ability to deliver exceptional service in a luxury dining environment.

Salary: R20,000 – R25,000 per month, negotiable depending on experience

Key Responsibilities:

  • Curate and maintain the restaurant's wine list, ensuring diversity, quality, and alignment with the menu

  • Provide expert recommendations to guests on wine pairings and selections

  • Conduct wine tastings and training sessions for front-of-house staff

  • Manage wine inventory, stock levels, and cellar organization

  • Build relationships with local and international wine suppliers

  • Monitor and ensure the proper storage, handling, and serving of all wines

  • Stay updated on wine industry trends and new products

  • Work closely with the Executive Chef and Restaurant Manager to enhance the guest experience

  • Deliver high standards of guest engagement, service, and wine education

Minimum Requirements:

  • Matric / Grade 12

  • Formal sommelier certification (WSET, CMS, or similar qualification)

  • Minimum 2–3 years’ experience as a sommelier in a fine dining or luxury hospitality environment

  • In-depth knowledge of local and international wines

  • Strong understanding of wine and food pairing principles

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Well-presented, professional, and guest-oriented

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays

  • Passionate about creating memorable dining experiences
