We seek a qualified Winemaker / Farm Manager to lead all aspects of our vineyard, cellar, and broader farm operations. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two harvest seasons, a formal winemaking qualification, and a hands-on, entrepreneurial mindset.

 This dynamic and multifaceted role requires a proactive individual who can oversee vineyard and cellar operations, manage wine procurement and production, lead local and export sales, and ensure a high standard of hospitality across the deli and tasting room.

The candidate must either be a South African citizen or possess valid legal documentation authorising them to work in South Africa. All references must be contactable. The candidate must have a valid driver's license and reliable personal transport.

Overview:

 This dynamic and multifaceted role requires a proactive individual who can oversee vineyard and cellar operations, manage wine procurement and production, lead local and export sales, and ensure a high standard of hospitality across the deli and tasting room.

Key Responsibilities:

Vineyard & Cellar Management

  • Oversee all viticultural practices to ensure healthy, high-quality yields
  • Manage the whole winemaking process, from grape to bottle
  • Coordinate seasonal harvest operations, including planning and labour
  • Ensure cellar hygiene, record-keeping, and compliance with industry regulations

Wine Procurement & Production

  • Source and purchase bulk wines that align with the farm's brand and style
  • Blend, bottle, and label wines for local and export markets
  • Monitor quality control throughout the blending and bottling process

Farm Operations

  • Manage and supervise farm staff and contractors
  • Oversee infrastructure, maintenance, and general farm management tasks
  • Control farm budgets and ensure operational efficiency

Sales, Marketing & Hospitality

  • Manage and support sales to local clients, distributors, and export partners
  • Oversee the deli and tasting room, ensuring excellent guest experience
  • Develop promotional activities and events to grow brand visibility
  • Maintain relationships with key stakeholders and clients

Requirements:

  • Degree or diploma in Winemaking, Viticulture, or related field
  • Minimum of 2 harvest seasons' experience in winemaking
  • Strong knowledge of viticulture, cellar operations, and wine production
  • Experience in sourcing and blending bulk wine is a strong advantage
  • Good understanding of export logistics and domestic wine sales
  • Hands-on leadership style with strong communication skills
  • Energetic, resourceful, and self-driven
  • Comfortable managing a team and juggling diverse responsibilities
  • Valid driver's licence

Package:

A competitive salary package will be offered, commensurate with experience.
