Our client, an established farming business in the picturesque region of Robertson in the Western Cape, is currently seeking an energetic, resourceful and well-organised Farm Manager/ Production Manager to lead their daily farming operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the farm, ensuring efficient and effective management of all agricultural activities
- Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance productivity and profitability while maintaining sustainable farming practices
- Manage and supervise farm staff, providing training and guidance to ensure optimal performance and adherence to safety standards
- Monitor crop health and implement pest and disease control measures to ensure high-quality yields
- Coordinate planting, harvesting, and post-harvest activities, ensuring timely and efficient operations
- Maintain and operate farm machinery and equipment, ensuring regular maintenance and repairs are conducted
- Manage budgets, track expenses, and ensure cost-effective resource utilisation
- Liaise with suppliers, distributors, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth supply chain operations
- Keep abreast of the latest agricultural trends and technologies to implement innovative solutions on the farm
REQUIREMENTS:
- A tertiary qualification in Agriculture, Horticulture, or a related field is preferred
- At least 4 years’ experience in a similar position
- In-depth knowledge of sustainable farming practices and pest management
- Working knowledge of mechanical systems will be advantageous
- Proficiency in farm management software and basic IT skills
- Strong leadership and management skills to effectively supervise and motivate staff
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in Afrikaans and English
- A valid code EC (14) driver’s licence
