IT Project Manager

SAWIS purpose is to assist the wine industry by turning data into information that helps turn challenges into opportunities. A vacancy exists within Information Technology; the ideal candidate must have a solid foundation in IT and systems support, excellent coordination skills, strong project management skills, and a forward-thinking mindset. Reporting to the Executive Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate IT and system development projects and ensure milestones and timelines are met.
• Liaise with external service providers and industry stakeholders.
• Provide technical support for the certification and information systems and related business processes, as well as desktop, network, and IT infrastructure.
• Maintain, support, and improve internal systems.
• Monitor trends and emerging technologies (including AI and automation)
• Help align technology initiatives with strategic goals and advise on system improvements.
• Assist in training and support for system users.
• Ad hoc tasks.

 Requirements

• A tertiary qualification in Project Management and/or Information Technology.
• A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
• Comprehensive knowledge of SQL and MySQL.
• Exposure to Mapper/BIS systems.
• Basic understanding of PHP.
• Proficiency in desktop and IT infrastructure support and experience with desktops, laptops, and server configuration.
• Ability to use Microsoft Office, Teams, and similar platforms effectively.
• Ability to lead a team and collaborate with external stakeholders and service providers.
• Knowledge of/or exposure to wine administrative/business processes would be advantageous.
• Demonstrated interest in keeping up with latest technologies and digital innovation.
• Excellent communication skills (English and Afrikaans).
• Strong project management, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Good interpersonal relations and ability to remain calm under pressure.
• A positive, self-disciplined, energetic, professional, and assertive individual.
• Ability to function independently and as part of a team.
