SAWIS purpose is to assist the wine industry by turning data into information that helps turn challenges into opportunities. A vacancy exists within Information Technology; the ideal candidate must have a solid foundation in IT and systems support, excellent coordination skills, strong project management skills, and a forward-thinking mindset. Reporting to the Executive Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate IT and system development projects and ensure milestones and timelines are met.
- Liaise with external service providers and industry stakeholders.
- Provide technical support for the certification and information systems and related business processes, as well as desktop, network, and IT infrastructure.
- Maintain, support, and improve internal systems.
- Monitor trends and emerging technologies (including AI and automation)
- Help align technology initiatives with strategic goals and advise on system improvements.
- Assist in training and support for system users.
- Ad hoc tasks.
Requirements
- A tertiary qualification in Project Management and/or Information Technology.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
- Comprehensive knowledge of SQL and MySQL.
- Exposure to Mapper/BIS systems.
- Basic understanding of PHP.
- Proficiency in desktop and IT infrastructure support and experience with desktops, laptops, and server configuration.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office, Teams, and similar platforms effectively.
- Ability to lead a team and collaborate with external stakeholders and service providers.
- Knowledge of/or exposure to wine administrative/business processes would be advantageous.
- Demonstrated interest in keeping up with latest technologies and digital innovation.
- Excellent communication skills (English and Afrikaans).
- Strong project management, organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Good interpersonal relations and ability to remain calm under pressure.
- A positive, self-disciplined, energetic, professional, and assertive individual.
- Ability to function independently and as part of a team.
