About the Role

As the Front Of House Asst Manager, you will play a key role in creating a warm, professional, and engaging environment for visitors. From wine tastings and cellar tours to hosting private lunches and exclusive functions, you will ensure every guest leaves with an unforgettable impression. In addition to delivering service excellence, you’ll assist the Hospitality and Front of House Managers in supervising Tasting Room Assistants, supporting daily operations, and driving sales.

Key Responsibilities

Guest Experience & Hospitality

  • Deliver an exceptional tasting room experience, guiding guests through wine tastings, cellar tours, and food pairings.

  • Host VIP groups, private lunches, and special events with flair and professionalism.

  • Lead by example on the floor, ensuring staff maintain the highest standards of service.

  • Liaise with the kitchen to ensure seamless coordination between food and wine service.

  • Support in planning and executing a range of functions, including private tastings, staff events, and marketing activations.

Operations & Administration

  • Carry out daily opening and closing procedures of the tasting room.

  • Assist with stock management, reconciliations, and stock takes.

  • Manage cash-ups in the absence of the Front of House Manager.

  • Oversee tasting room upkeep and ensure all facilities operate smoothly.

Sales & Marketing

  • Inspire and motivate the team to meet sales targets.

  • Promote the estate’s Wine Club and encourage guest sign-ups.

  • Support the sharing of guest experiences and highlights for social media and marketing use.

  • Ensure shipping and sales documentation is accurate and complete.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong background in hospitality, with prior experience in a winery tasting room.

  • Training in wine service and hospitality (Cape Wine Academy or similar) is advantageous.

  • A natural leader with the ability to motivate and support a team.

  • Confident, professional, and personable when engaging with guests.

  • Detail-oriented with excellent administrative and organisational skills.

  • Passionate about wine, food, and creating memorable guest experiences.
