About the Role
As a Tasting Room Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in creating a memorable experience for every guest. From conducting professional wine tastings to managing stock and ensuring seamless operations, your focus will be on delivering exceptional customer service and upholding the standards that make Cederberg Wines renowned.
This role is ideal for someone with a strong eye for detail, a passion for wine, and the ability to engage guests with warmth, knowledge, and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct engaging and informative wine tastings that showcase our wines and heritage.
- Provide excellent customer service, engaging guests to understand preferences and make suitable recommendations.
- Manage stock levels in the tasting room, ensuring accuracy and timely replenishment.
- Handle manual transactions efficiently, including cash and system entries.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the tasting area.
- Demonstrate proficiency in Point of Sale (POS) and stock management systems.
- Assist with filing, admin, and operational tasks as needed.
Requirements
- Matric certificate (preferred).
- Drivers license will be beneficial.
- Previous experience in customer service, hospitality, or wine-related environments.
- Proficient in POS and stock management systems.
- General computer literacy.
- Knowledge of wine production, storage, and service, including wine variants and harvest years.
- Strong communication, time management, and organisational skills.
- Excellent customer service and teamwork abilities.
- Fully bilingual: native or bilingual proficiency in English and professional proficiency in Afrikaans/Xhosa.
- Detail-oriented, reliable, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings.
