our client, a renowned, growing wine and agricultural estate based just outside franschhoek is seeking a highly organised, proactive, and detail-driven production assistant to support the operational, financial, supply chain, and compliance activities across our wine, olive oil and citrus production divisions.
this is a pivotal support role for a candidate with solid experience in production administration, procurement, compliance, and bookkeeping—ideally within the wine, olive oil, or agricultural sectors.
you’ll work closely with our farm manager, winemaker, and commercial team to ensure seamless production operations, efficient procurement processes, strong cost controls, and strict compliance with local and export regulatory frameworks.
this is an on-site, farm-based position that requires someone comfortable working in a dynamic agricultural setting and ready to grow with our business as we expand our olive oil pressing and citrus operations.
key responsibilities
production & farming support
- daily coordination and admin of vineyard, olive grove, and citrus farming activities
- support all stages of wine and olive oil production (harvest, pressing, bottling, blending, etc.)
- maintain production records, harvest yields, and crop health data
- assist with export and labelling compliance (eu, sawis)
procurement & inventory management
- procure dry goods and packaging for wine and olive oil production
- assist with supplier negotiations and cost-saving initiatives
- forecast material needs aligned with production cycles
- build and manage bills of materials (boms) in excel and sage
- maintain supplier and customer databases
supply chain & logistics support
- assist in stock planning, deliveries, and order processing
- track national deliveries, manage warehouse transfers, and support restaurant production planning
- upload documents to customer portals (yuppiechef, pick n pay, etc.)
financial & admin assistance
- support invoicing, accounts receivable/payable, and payment tracking
- verify supplier invoices and assist with monthly budget updates
- help manage cash sales and customer statement reconciliations
regulatory & compliance administration
- ensure full sawis, daff, and liquor licensing compliance
- handle stock take reconciliations and wine certification processes
- prepare for global gap and other industry audits
- ensure olive oil compliance and certification readiness
competitions & industry bodies
- manage entries and logistics for wine and olive oil competitions (local and international)
- maintain records of deadlines, fees, and sample submissions
- liaise with sa olive, and support sawis submissions and industry reporting
reporting & systems
- maintain audit trails, cost reports, production schedules, and compliance logs
- assist with data analysis for management reporting and decision-making
requirements
- 5+ years experience in a production admin, procurement, or supply chain role (preferably in wine, olive oil, or agriculture)
- solid knowledge of western cape wine and liquor regulations
- strong administrative and financial acumen (invoicing, payments, supplier management)
- advanced excel skills and proficiency in microsoft office
- experience using sage accounting, sage x3 or similar
- excellent attention to detail, time management and communication skills
- comfortable working independently in a farm-based (non-remote) role
- valid driver’s license and own transport
- fluent in english; afrikaans advantageous
