My client, an award-winning 5-star Hotel & Spa in the Constantia Wine Route, is seeking to employ an Accounts Assistant with previous experience in a 5-star hotel or equivalent high-end hospitality environment to support the finance team in ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and integrity across all accounting operations.
Purpose of the Role: To support the finance department in maintaining accurate financial records and efficient accounting processes within a prestigious 5-star hospitality environment. The Accounts Assistant works closely with senior finance staff to record, reconcile, and report on financial transactions, while ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal controls. The role also involves general administrative duties and contributing to the smooth running of the accounts function.
Key Responsibilities Include but Are Not Limited To
- Assist with daily banking and preparation of cash-up bags
- Verify revenue reports and identify discrepancies
- Capture supplier invoices and process petty cash reconciliations
- Prepare and maintain payment reconciliations and account balances
- Support monthly stock counts, data entry, and stock sheet balancing
- Reconcile accounts and assist with month-end procedures
- Maintain organized records and documentation for audits and reporting
- Provide administrative support to the finance team and Unit Accountant
- Uphold confidentiality and integrity in all financial transactions
- Contribute to improving efficiency in accounting and reporting systems
Criteria
- Matric (Grade 12) – essential
- BCom or MCom in Accounting or Finance will be highly advantageous
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience as an Accounts Assistant in a 5-star hotel or equivalent high-end hospitality environment
- Solid understanding of accounting principles, standards, and regulations
- Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Office (advanced Excel)
- Working knowledge of Xero and Micros is essential
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational ability
- Proven ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
- Analytical mindset and ability to manage large data volumes accurately
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- High level of proficiency in English
