Kendrick Recruitment is seeking a professional and personable Restaurant Hostess on a fixed-term contract to join a prestigious luxury wine estate in Stellenbosch. The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for guests, ensuring excellent customer service and a pleasant dining experience.
Responsibilities:
Welcome guests to the venue and escort them to assigned dining or bar areas
Manage reservations and coordinate seating arrangements with fellow hostesses
Provide menus and announce waiter/waitress names
Create and manage floor plans for lunch and dinner services
Communicate menu changes with senior chefs and update accordingly
Maintain the hostess desk clean and tidy
Answer incoming calls and address guest queries
Stay informed about the estate and local area to assist guests
Communicate VIP visits to managers and wait staff promptly
Be familiar with reservation policies and procedures
Greet guests upon their departure
Requirements:
Grade 12; hospitality certificate is a plus
1–2 years’ previous hostess experience preferred
Understanding of restaurant etiquette
Experience managing reservations
Ability to work effectively in a team
Strong customer service and communication skills (phone and in-person)
Strong organisational skills to monitor the entire dining and bar area
Availability to work within opening hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays
Good physical condition to walk and stand during shifts
Comfortable interacting with distinguished clientele
Ability to work in a high-pressure environment
Well-presented, enthusiastic, flexible, and accountable
