Grande Provence Heritage Wine Estate is seeking an experienced, hands-on Maintenance Manager to take full responsibility for the maintenance, upkeep, and operational functionality of the entire estate. This role oversees all buildings, gardens, infrastructure, equipment, vehicles, water and irrigation systems, ensuring the estate operates seamlessly, safely, and to the highest standard expected of a luxury heritage destination.
The ideal candidate is highly organised, technically skilled, proactive, and able to manage teams, contractors, and preventative maintenance across multiple operational areas.
Key Responsibilities
Estate Maintenance & Infrastructure
- Full responsibility for the maintenance of all buildings, including:
- Boutique lodge / accommodation
- Restaurants, kitchens, wine bar and tasting facilities
- Offices, staff facilities and public areas
- Historical and heritage buildings
- Plan and execute preventative maintenance schedules
- Conduct regular inspections and address issues proactively
- Ensure compliance with health, safety and statutory requirements
Gardens & Grounds
- Oversee the maintenance of all gardens, lawns, paths, parking areas and outdoor spaces
- Manage garden staff and/or contractors
- Ensure gardens reflect the estate’s luxury and heritage positioning
- Coordinate seasonal maintenance and landscaping projects
Water, Irrigation & Utilities
- Full responsibility for:
- Irrigation systems
- Boreholes, pumps and water storage
- General water systems and plumbing infrastructure
- Monitor water usage and ensure efficient, sustainable operation
- Identify and resolve leaks, failures or inefficiencies promptly
Equipment & Assets
- Oversee maintenance and servicing of all equipment, including:
- Kitchen and hospitality equipment
- Maintenance tools and machinery
- Estate operational equipment
- Maintain asset registers and service records
Vehicles
- Manage the estate vehicle fleet:
- Servicing schedules
- Licensing, inspections and compliance
- Repairs and breakdowns
- Ensure vehicles are safe, roadworthy and well-maintained
Team & Contractor Management
- Lead, manage and motivate the maintenance and grounds team
- Allocate daily tasks and oversee work quality
- Source, appoint and manage external contractors where required
- Control maintenance budgets and approve expenditure within limits
Reporting & Administration
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and logs
- Prepare reports for Estate Management
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting for maintenance and capital projects
Key Requirements
- Proven experience in a senior maintenance management role, preferably within:
- Hospitality, wine estates, lodges, or large properties
- Strong technical knowledge of:
- Building maintenance
- Plumbing and water systems
- Irrigation systems
- Electrical systems (practical understanding)
- Experience managing teams and contractors
- Strong problem-solving and organisational skills
- Hands-on, proactive approach
- Valid driver’s licence
- Ability to work flexible hours when required (including emergencies)
