Warehouse & Distribution Store Assistant

Location: Franschhoek
Department: Winery & Direct-to-Consumer (DTC)
Reports to: Warehouse & Distribution Store Assistant
Type: Full-time, On-site

Position Overview:

The Warehouse & Distribution Store Assistant supports the efficient receipt, storage, picking, packing, and
dispatch of goods. The role ensures accurate stock handling, timely order fulfilment, and adherence to health,
safety, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Receiving & Storage
• Receive, check, and record incoming stock against delivery notes.
• Inspect goods for damage, shortages, or discrepancies and report issues.
• Correctly label, store, and rotate stock (FIFO where applicable).

Picking, Packing & Dispatch
• Pick stock accurately according to picking lists or sales orders.
• Pack goods securely and prepare documentation for dispatch.
• Load and unload vehicles safely and efficiently.
• Coordinate with drivers/couriers to ensure on-time deliveries

Driving & Distribution
• Deliver stock to customers, outlets, or internal departments as scheduled.
• Ensure delivery documentation is completed accurately and signed where required.
• Perform daily vehicle checks (fuel, oil, tyres, lights) and report defects.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and ensure safe loading of goods.
• Adhere to road traffic laws, company driving policies, and delivery schedules.

Stock Control
• Assist with stock counts, cycle counts, and year-end stock takes.
• Maintain accurate stock records (manual or system-based).
• Identify slow-moving, damaged, or expired stock and report to management.

Housekeeping & Safety
• Keep the warehouse clean, organised, and free of hazards.
• Follow health and safety procedures and use PPE where required.
• Comply with company policies, quality standards, and procedures.

General Duties
• Assist with ad hoc warehouse and distribution tasks as required.
• Support other departments during peak periods.

Working Conditions
• Warehouse environment
• May require overtime, weekend, or shift work
• Exposure to varying temperatures and physical activity

Requirements:

• Grade 10–12 (Matric preferred)
• Valid driver’s license (Code B / Code 8 or higher)
• Previous warehouse, stores, or delivery experience (advantageous)
• Basic numeracy and literacy skills
• Ability to perform physical tasks (lifting, standing, moving stock)
