We are seeking an experienced Sous Chef to work closely with the Head Chef in managing daily kitchen operations. This role requires strong leadership, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering consistently high food quality. Must be South African citizen to apply
Key Responsibilities

Manage and lead kitchen staff in the absence of the Head Chef

Guide and train junior kitchen staff in food preparation, cooking, and plating
-
Oversee kitchen stock, ingredients, and inventory control
-
Ensure strict FIFO procedures and proper food labeling for quality assurance
-
Keep cooking stations fully stocked during service periods
-
Train, assess, and develop kitchen staff
-
Manage food ordering, minimize waste, and support budget control initiatives
-
Supervise food preparation and presentation to meet quality standards
-
Assist with menu creation and development
-
Monitor and enforce health and safety standards
-
Maintain staff and leave rosters
-
Ensure all CDPs are briefed on daily and weekly reservations, events, and menu requirements
-
Check every dish leaving the kitchen for quality, portion size, presentation, and correct temperature
Requirements
-
Culinary Diploma
-
Approximately 4 years’ experience in a senior chef role
-
Own reliable transport and valid driver’s license
-
Strong leadership and management skills
-
Team-oriented with excellent communication skills
-
Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
-
High level of organization and attention to detail
-
Exceptional customer-service mindset
-
Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays
Salary: R25 000 – R30 000
