Based at Villiera Wines in Stellenbosch, the Sales Associate will combine wine shop duties with game guide responsibilities, creating unique guest experiences that encompass both our wine portfolio and wildlife offerings. This dual role involves conducting wine tastings, driving sales, and leading educational game drives and wildlife experiences.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Wine Sales & Service:
- Conduct professional wine tastings
- Share comprehensive knowledge about our wine portfolio
- Process wine sales and merchandise transactions
- Package purchases with care and attention
- Arrange local and international shipping
- Meet monthly sales targets
- Promote wine club memberships
- Support special promotions and events
- Maintain rigorous quality and food safety standards, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and continuously improve processes to consistently deliver safe, high-quality products
Customer Service:
- Create a welcoming atmosphere for all visitors
- Provide knowledgeable guidance on wine and wildlife
- Share information about the estate's history and biodiversity
- Handle customer inquiries professionally
- Resolve customer concerns promptly
- Maintain high standards of service
- Support wine club member services
- Assist with guest wine education
Game Guide Duties:
- Conduct guided game drives and wildlife tours
- Share knowledge about local flora and fauna
- Ensure guest safety during wildlife experiences
- Monitor and report on wildlife activities
- Maintain game viewing vehicles
- Track and locate wildlife for guest viewing
- Document wildlife sightings and behaviours
- Support conservation initiatives
Shop Operations:
- Maintain attractive product displays
- Monitor stock levels and presentation
- Process accurate cash and card transactions
- Assist with inventory management
- Support opening and closing procedures
- Keep shop area clean and organized
- Help with stock taking
- Ensure correct pricing display
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE
- Grade 12
- Wine service certification (advantageous)
- FGASA qualification (Field Guide Association of Southern Africa)
- Valid game guide license
- First aid certification
- Driver's license (PDP preferred)
- 1+ years retail or hospitality experience
- Game guide experience
- Customer service experience
- Wine industry experience (beneficial)
- Own reliable transport
- Flexibility to work varied shifts
- Physical fitness
- Professional appearance
- Legal age to serve alcohol
- Passion for wildlife and conservation
