Junior Maintenance Technician will be assisting the Maintenance department with the implementation of all installations, repair and upkeep of all packaging related machinery and facilities specified within NWD. This includes but is not limited to, preventative, planned and corrective maintenance in accordance with good manufacturing and good engineering practices.
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12.
- Technical qualification will be advantageous.
- At least 3 years in a similar role in a food or beverage packaging plant.
- Knowledge of FSSC 2200 will be advantageous.
- Experience working on pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems that is controlled by a PLC system.
- Knowledge of hotmelt applicators.
- Knowledge of GMP.
- Experience with problem solving techniques.
Key areas of responsibility will include:
- Upkeep and repair of all packaging related machinery.
- Upkeep of the building and infrastructure inside the packaging halls of NWD including the Lab facility, it’s equipment, employee facility and the sewer system.
- Ensuring the correct functioning and cleanliness of the water filtration system and dosing unit.
- Available for standby after hours to tend to any breakdowns that may occur.
- Cleaning, repairing and installing machine parts as necessary.
- Assisting with the development and upkeep of maintenance documents and ensuring record keeping is done.
- Execution of corrective maintenance through problem solving techniques.
- Complying with health and safety regulations.
- Assisting with risk analyses and implementing preventative measures to eliminate any identified risks.
- Upkeep and organizing of the workshop.
- Ensuring that all machine safety devices, doors and sensors are in place and functioning.
- Assisting maintenance technicians with implementing good manufacturing practices relative to machine operations in all relevant areas.
- Assist maintenance technicians to ensure that all machine conditions, record keeping, and maintenance schedules conform to FSSC requirements.
- Assist skilled maintenance technicians with mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic repairs.
- Monitor equipment condition and report abnormalities or potential failures.
- Assisting maintenance technicians with the training of all operators.
- Keep good communication with the maintenance technician.
- Perform all reasonable tasks that might be requested by your manager from time to time.
- Attending all meetings and training that will be required by the position.
