National Sales Manager: Wine

Our client, a premium Stellenbosch wine brand (Taaibosch) seeks a dynamic and seasoned National Sales Manager to drive sales growth across South Africa and enhance brand positioning. The role will primarily focus on RSA and African wine sales with possible exposure to the existing international markets.

The role requires managing sales strategies, regional agents, and relationships with key on/off-consumption stakeholders, along with conducting trade visits and reporting to the EXCO. The ideal candidate is a sales professional who "lives and breathes wine" and possesses a passion for building and maintaining a boutique, high-end and well accomplished brand, ensuring it remains at the forefront of the premium market.

Responsibilities will include: *Develop and execute the national sales strategy to drive volume growth in high-end on-trade restaurants and hotels and off-trade specialist retail channels *Build and maintain long-term relationships with key customers, distributors, and industry stakeholders *Manage regional sales agents and representatives to increase product listings and overall sales performance *Represent the brand at high-profile trade shows, industry expos, and consumer events *Analyse sales data and provide monthly performance reports to leadership on targets, budgets, and market trends *Collaborate and manage the logistics and wine sales representative teams to ensure efficient client management and effective product distribution.

Essential qualifications, skills and experience:

  • Minimum 5+ years of wine sales management experience within the premium bottled wine industry;
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Business, Marketing, or Wine Management is highly advantageous;
  • Solid understanding and appreciation of the South African wine landscape, specifically the premium sector;
  • Proven ability to manage, motivate, and lead a sales team. Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills;
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel is critical to this role.
