Knus Karoo Kombuis requires a vibrant and creative individual, with an abundance of energy and enthusiasm, to join the Kitchen team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

• Overseeing and coordinating the day-to-day running of the pastry section
• Prepare desserts, pastries, baked goods and confectionery according to specified menus, standards, costing and portion control
• Assist with the development and testing of new dessert items and seasonal offerings
• Ensure consistent quality, presentation and taste of all pastry items
• Assist with ordering, stock control and ingredient management
• Help maintain and improve budgeted food cost within the pastry section
• Ensure strict hygiene and food safety protocols are followed at all times
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the pastry kitchen

Applications are awaited from persons who comply with the following:

• Degree or diploma in Culinary Arts / Patisserie qualification or formal pastry training
• Minimum two years’ experience as a Pastry Commis Chef / Junior Pastry Chef or similar position
• Strong passion for pastry and baking
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Ability to take initiative and work independently
• Strong attention to detail and creativity
• Willingness to work scheduled weekends and Public Holidays
• Sober habits
