family-owned and family-run, morgenster wine & olive estate has a long history dating back 300 years. situated near the foothills of the helderberg mountain in somerset west, they produce award-winning bordeaux-styled wines, italian cultivars and extra virgin olive oil.

morgenster, is looking to appoint a farm manager. the goal of this appointment is to take ownership of farming activities for both olives & vines, the management of all teams & all stakeholder relations. the position will require a healthy, fit, enthusiastic individual, who is passionate about all aspects of farming. 

the successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • the day-to-day management, strategic planning & focussed activities of both vineyards and olive groves
  • coordination, collaboration & management of vineyard, olive & garden teams – you will be required to review structures & fine tune to create efficiency, better skills & overall synergy
  • all matters relating to staff – discipline, development, procurement etc
  • maintaining good relations with stakeholders ie. fire department, neighbours, producers, healthy & safety parties etc
  • annual budget of expenses and capital requirements
  • ad hoc duties

you will have experience in farming vineyards with specific training from simonit & sirch, working with staff in a constructive & respectful manner, a positive demeanor & the ability to work on a physically demanding farm.  in addition to the above you will have an applicable tertiary qualification and at least 5 years farming experience.
