Simonsig Wines is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Production Controller to oversee our bottling, disgorging, and labelling operations. This pivotal role ensures that our production schedules for premium still and sparkling wines are met efficiently while maintaining the world-class quality standards Simonsig is known for.
Location: Simonsig Wines, Stellenbosch
Position Type: Full-Time
Key Responsibilities:
- Production Planning: Develop and adjust daily and monthly schedules to meet customer orders and optimize machine and labour usage.
- Operations Management: Supervise bottling, disgorging, and labelling teams, ensuring smooth workflow and strict compliance with health and safety standards.
- Material Coordination: Manage inventory levels for raw materials (bottles, corks, labels) and coordinate with procurement to prevent production bottlenecks.
- Performance & Quality: Track KPIs such as output and downtime, conduct quality checks at every production stage, and resolve technical issues as they arise.
- Reporting: Prepare detailed reports on production efficiency, costs, and workflow improvements.
- People Management: Lead, manage and motivate the production team by providing specialized training.
Requirements:
- Education: Diploma or Degree in Production Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: Previous experience in food/beverage manufacturing; specific knowledge of wine bottling and sparkling wine disgorging is highly advantageous.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Excel and experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP or Oracle).
- Attributes: Strong analytical skills, excellent communication, and the ability to lead a diverse team in a fast-paced environment.
