La Vierge Wines is looking for a Wine Sales Supervisor who will be responsible for recruiting, training and coaching the Wine Ambassador team to ensure the efficient, controlled and profitable operation of all wine sales. This role combines team leadership, stock control, driving wine sales and operational management to ensure exceptional guest experiences while maintaining strict inventory accountability.

The Wine Sales Supervisor plays a key role in implementing and maintaining effective stock management systems, preventing loss or theft, and ensuring accurate recording and reconciliation of all wine and alcohol sales.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Supervision

  • Supervise and support the Wine Ambassador team in delivering exceptional guest experiences
  • Provide guidance on wine knowledge, service standards and sales techniques
  • Manage daily team coordination, scheduling and task allocation
  • Monitor performance and provide coaching to improve sales and guest engagement
  • Ensure ambassadors represent the estate brand professionally and consistently

Guest Experience & Wine Sales

  • Ensure high standards of wine service and guest interaction are maintained at all times
  • Support ambassadors during busy service periods or complex guest requests
  • Drive wine sales through upselling, tastings and guest engagement
  • Assist with hosting wine tastings, events and special wine experiences
  • Build strong relationships with guests to encourage repeat visits and wine purchases

Stock Management & Inventory Control

  • Take full responsibility for all wine and alcohol stock in the strock room and surrounds
  • Implement and maintain clear stock control procedures for all wine and alcohol products
  • Conduct regular stock counts (daily/weekly/monthly) and reconcile variances
  • Ensure all stock movements are accurately recorded and authorised
  • Monitor stock levels and coordinate replenishment with relevant departments
  • Investigate and report any stock discrepancies immediately

Loss Prevention & Compliance

  • Implement systems and procedures to minimise stock loss and prevent theft
  • Ensure all wine and alcohol sales are correctly recorded through the POS system
  • Monitor service areas to ensure correct pouring and bottle usage
  • Maintain strict control over storage areas, cellar access and stock handling
  • Work with management to develop and enforce alcohol control policies

Operations & Coordination

  • Maintain accurate records of sales, tastings and wine usage
  • Coordinate closely with front-of-house, kitchen and management teams
  • Assist with wine events, promotions, launches and estate functions
  • Support management with reporting on wine sales performance and trends

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of wine, wine service and wine sales
  • Previous experience in wine service, hospitality or tasting room operations
  • Proven experience supervising or leading a team
  • Strong organisational and stock management skills
  • High level of integrity and accountability
  • Excellent communication and guest engagement skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and events (hospitslity industry)
