Groot Constantia Wine Estate, one of South Africa’s most historically significant wine estates, has an exciting opportunity available for a visionary, commercially astute, and values-driven Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to join their team.
The successful candidate will report to the Board of Directors and will be responsible for providing strategic leadership, driving operational performance, ensuring financial sustainability, and preserving the estate’s rich heritage while strengthening its global brand and market position.
The successful candidate will be responsible for: *Developing and implementing long-term strategic plans aligned with the Trust’s mandate *Providing executive oversight of viticulture and wine production to ensure quality and sustainability *Driving growth across local and international wine sales, hospitality, and tourism operations *Overseeing premium hospitality offerings, including restaurants, tastings, and visitor experiences *Ensuring preservation and compliance of heritage assets in collaboration with relevant stakeholders *Managing financial performance, including budgeting, reporting, and capital allocation *Maintaining strong governance and effective Board engagement and reporting *Acting as brand ambassador locally and internationally, strengthening stakeholder relationships *Leading and developing a high-performance executive team and organisational culture *Driving continuous improvement, transformation, and operational excellence across the estate *A more descriptive job description is available on request.
Essential minimum qualifications, skills and experience:
- Relevant postgraduate qualification (MBA, Agriculture, Business, Finance, or related field preferred);
- At least 10-15+ years’ senior executive leadership experience;
- Proven experience in wine, agriculture, luxury hospitality, tourism, or premium consumer brands;
- Experience reporting to a Board of Directors;
- Strong strategic, commercial, and financial acumen;
- Leadership experience in hospitality and/or tourism environments;
- Strong governance and stakeholder management capability;
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills;
- High levels of integrity, resilience, and decision-making ability;
- International market exposure will be advantageous.
